Principal's Corner

Hello Razorbacks.  I am Jakarra Young and it is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as Principal of Mundy’s Mill Middle School. I have been in education for 22 years and have been a part of the Mundy’s Mill Community for more than 17 years.  I am honored to have the opportunity to continue leading a school with such a wonderful student body with a committed,  loyal, and dynamic staff. My primary goal is to ensure that all students are provided with a rigorous, engaging, and supportive educational experience that enhances their self-confidence and resilience while incorporating STEM and STEAM. 
    It is truly a privilege to be a part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently with teachers to make sure that our students are exposed to rigorous curriculum and instruction that is both engaging and challenging.  It is imperative that students arrive at school on time and are ready to learn. Due to recent events, we have implemented new policies to ensure the safety of our staff and students.  Students will not be allowed to wear hoodies or have their cellphones in class.  This is nonnegotiable.  Students are required to place their hoodies and cell phones in their lockers upon arriving to school.
     Each nine weeks I will host "Morning Vittles with the Principal". Please register and be present as I welcome your input and ideas. I am excited about this school year. I am looking forward to getting to know the new 6th graders and continuing to build strong relationships with all students as we start this new and exciting year together as we are future forward to prepare our students to be future ready At the Mill!!
